General Information

Library Cards / Loan Periods / Fines / Borrowing Costs
- A library card is free
to residents of the City of Brandon, the Towns of
Carberry, Neepawa and Hartney, the Village of Glenboro, and the Rural
Municipalities of North Cypress, South Cypress,
Langford and Cameron. People who live outside these
communities are required to pay a yearly non-resident
fee in order to register for a library card. Because
this cost may vary from year to year, please contact the
Branch of the WMRL System closest to you if you would like more
information about using the Library.
BOOKS can be borrowed from the Library for a
28-day loan period. If
you would like to keep a book longer than this, a renewal may be
arranged.
If
a book is very popular and in heavy demand, it may be placed on
a shorter loan period, eg., for 14-days instead of the usual 28.
Be sure to ask about the loan period when you check your book
out of the Library.
Encyclopedias (only in the Children's Department) and Special Occasion
Materials can be
borrowed for 7 days. Renewals are not permitted for these items.
Magazines and CD's can be borrowed for 14 days.
While
there are no total limits, the following category limits are in
force in order to help ensure that the Library is able to meet
the needs of its patrons.
Books from the Library's Reference Sections are
for in-Library use only and cannot be taken out of the Library.

If you
forget to return your library materials on or before the date
on which they are due, an overdue charge will be levied.
Video and CD Loans carry an overdue charge of $1.00 per day per
cassette/CD.
A ten (10) cents per day per item overdue charge
will be assessed on all other items.
You will be responsible for the good
care of all library materials marked out with your library card.
Should any damages occur to this material, replacement charges
may be levied. Replacement costs will be levied for lost
materials.
